Engaging the Public on Waterfront Possibilities
Waterfront Development Corporation Ltd. offered a glimpse of what the Halifax Waterfront could look like.
Concept designs for 5080 George St. and the Cable Wharf Plaza lots were shown at a public information session today, June 9.
"We're presenting concepts of what is possible for this premier waterfront space," said Colin MacLean, president and CEO, WDCL. "In turn, we will receive valuable public input about key design features and best-liked elements of the use of space, which will help decide the direction of the project."
Three design teams have created three concepts for the site, and potential uses for a combined development and public open space. The intent is to encourage public dialogue.
The agencies WDCL chose were Ekistics Planning and Design, WHW Architects and a team from Breakhouse and TEAL Architects.
The public can review and respond to information and designs at www.my-waterfront.ca . Comments will be received until July 7.
Public engagement is a regular part of WDCL's development process. Information about other Halifax, Dartmouth and Bedford projects is available at https://my-waterfront.ca/development/project-highlights.
WDCL is a provincial Crown corporation developing the strategic potential of the waterfronts in Bedford, Dartmouth, Halifax and Lunenburg. Revenues are directly reinvested in the waterfronts to drive economic opportunity and enhance tourism and public enjoyment of the waterfront.
