Premier Darrell Dexter today, May 31, announced the appointment of Robert Wood as the new deputy minister of Community Services.

Mr. Wood is currently the assistant deputy minister of Court Services for the government of British Columbia and former executive director of the Ministry of Housing and Social Development.

"Mr. Wood has considerable experience working in executive positions for the government of British Columbia and he will be a great asset to the Community Services team," said Premier Dexter. "I look forward to working with Mr. Wood in the years to come as government continues to fulfill its commitment to make life better for Nova Scotia families."

Mr. Wood holds a bachelor of arts in political science and a masters of public administration. His appointment is effective July 18.

"I am excited by the work that is being done in Nova Scotia to help those who need it most and I look forward to working with the dedicated staff at Community Services to continue that important work," said Mr. Wood.

"I want to thank Dave for his exceptional work over the last several months," said Premier Dexter. "He was instrumental in helping government roll out the single largest investment to help Nova Scotians make ends meet in over a decade."
