A Screening Night for Arcadia Entertainment
Ten years of local television production by Arcadia Entertainment is being celebrated on Wednesday, May 25, in Halifax.
To mark the occasion, Film Nova Scotia and Empire Theatres are hosting a free public screening of the company's documentary, Last Stand of the Templars, at 7 p.m. at the Oxford Theatre.
Arcadia Entertainment has a special interest in ocean related documentary series and specials. Its team of producers, directors, and editors produce programs for a number of broadcasters including the Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel, Bravo and CBC.
Featured on National Geographic's Expedition Week in April, Last Stand of the Templars covers the 11-month period that marked the beginning of the decline of the Knights Templar during the Battle of Jacob's Ford. In the film, Ronnie Ellenblum, an associate professor at Hebrew University, and Robert Kool, a researcher with the Israel Antiquities Authority, work with their teams to uncover this pivotal battle. Audiences will see new archeological evidence, battle recreations and recently uncovered documents from the Vatican secret archives in Rome.
Arcadia will also be showing clips from two of its local programs, Hope for Wildlife and TV with TV's Jonathan Torrens.
Film Nova Scotia and Empire Theatres partner throughout the year to allow local audiences to see homegrown productions and enable local filmmakers to promote their work.
