JUSTICE–-No Change to Crime Prevention Measures
Justice Minister Ross Landry responded today, April 30, to inaccurate information relating to the Justice department’s crime prevention measures.
The 2011-2012 budget does not reduce grants for Crime Prevention. Base funding of $40,000 remains for these grants. In addition, funding of $240,000 for the Lighthouses Program also remains in place.
“Government is fully committed to crime prevention. Core funding has not changed and is secure,” said Mr. Landry. “The changes to the Justice Department’s budget were made to help us live within our means and sustain important programs and services, without jeopardizing public safety.”
Restorative justice operating grants also remain in place and are not changed.
