Premier Expressed Condolences on Passing of Police Chief Myles Burke
Premier Darrell Dexter expressed his condolences to members of the Cape Breton Regional Police Force and the friends and family of Chief Myles Burke, who passed away today, April 9.
"Chief Burke was a community leader and well-respected as the head of the Cape Breton Police Force, who worked his way up through the ranks and served the people of Cape Breton with distinction," said Premier Dexter. "My sympathy goes out to his friends and family."
Chief Burke became chief of the almost 200-member Cape Breton force in February 2009. He was promoted to deputy chief in January 2008.
He was also the Nova Scotia representative on the board of the Canada Association of Chiefs of Police.
