2011 GAMES--Games Will Wrap Up in True Nova Scotia Style

  • ---------------------------------------------------------------The Halifax 2011 Canada Games will go out with a celebratory bang on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 1 p.m. at the Halifax Metro Centre.

The 90-minute production will celebrate the achievements of the Games, creating a party atmosphere and featuring performances as unique and diverse as the 2,700 athletes and artists involved in the Games.

Music from Squid, Three Sheet, Radio Radio, Old Man Leudecke, Mass Pipe and Drums will set the stage with traditional and contemporary elements of Nova Scotia culture as the Jack Pelech award, Centennial Cup, and Canada Games Flag are presented to close the province's largest multi-sport event.

The Jack Pelech Award is awarded to the provincial or territorial team who best combine competitive performance, good sportsmanship, and a spirit of fair play, co-operation, and friendship. The Centennial Cup recognizes the team with the greatest improvement from the previous Winter Games. The Canada Games Flag is presented to the team with the most flag points, which are accumulated through the performance and participation of all athletes.

The ceremony will also include the passing of the torch from the Halifax 2011 Canada Winter Games to the Sherbrooke 2013 Canada Summer Games.

Following the success of the Opening Ceremony, Patrick Roberge Productions returns to provide the Games with a celebratory send-off.

Tickets for this uniquely Nova Scotian event are available online, by phone or at the Ticket Atlantic box office. For more information, visit canadagames2011.ca/tickets or call 1-877-451-1221.
