Celebration Square at Noon line-up

The Halifax 2011 Canada Games today, Jan. 31, announced the two-week lineup of performances for Celebration Square at Noon.

The program will showcase the talents of 15 local acts from Feb. 14-18 and Feb. 21-25. The free show will run noon to 1 p.m. on each weekdays. The schedule is as follows:

Week 1

Feb. 14: Cory Tetford and Paul Lamb / Maritime Centre for African Dance
Feb. 15: Dartmouth and District Pipe Band / Scotia Highland Dancers
Feb. 16: Maritime Dance Academy / Young Company of Halifax Dance
Feb. 17: The Trips / Slow Cooking Cover
Feb. 18: Halifax Circus / Annapolis Valley Honour Choir

Week 2

Feb. 21: The Mathieu Da Costa Challenge Awards Ceremony
Feb. 22: Blou
Feb. 23: Dance Zone / Conseil communautaire du Grand-Havre
Feb. 24: Kidzact
Feb. 25: Musquodoboit Valley Family of Schools' Choir

The selected performers, including more than 275 youth, represent a broad range of arts and entertainment featuring highland dancing, African drumming and circus performances.

NewCap Radio, which includes Q104 and 96.5 KOOL FM in Halifax, is the presenting sponsor of Celebration Square.

Other cultural components of the Games include the National Artist Program, Celebration Square at Night and the opening and closing Ceremonies.
