Premier Dexter Wishes Nova Scotians a Joyous and Safe Holiday Season

NOTE: The following is a holiday message from Premier Darrell Dexter.

Seasons Greetings. This time of year is full of joy and celebration as people in towns and communities across the province gather to mark this festive time of year.

Families join together to share memories and make new ones. Old acquaintances are renewed and new ones are formed. We are reminded of our strong bonds with each other, bonds that time and distance may stretch but that can never break.

We take this time of year to look back and celebrate our individual and collective achievements. It is also a time to look ahead and to reflect on how we can make our lives and the lives of our fellow Nova Scotians better.

The warm, giving spirit of Nova Scotians is brought to the fore during the holiday season. This month, many will share generously with those less privileged or cast a watchful eye to find those around us who need a special effort during the holidays. While it is more evident during the holiday season, I know that efforts such as these are found each and every day, all year round in towns and communities across the province.

I want to take this opportunity to recognize and thank the men and women of the Canadian Forces serving overseas who cannot be with their families during this holiday season. Nova Scotians are proud of you, and your efforts do not go unnoticed.

Over the holidays, I will spend time with my wife Kelly and our son Harris at our home in Cole Harbour. Like many families, we will enjoy precious time with our loved ones.

For those of you who cannot be with your friends and family this holiday season, take comfort in knowing that they are thinking of you as you are thinking of them.

On behalf of Kelly, Harris and I, we wish you peace, love and joy this holiday season and in the year ahead.
