Senior Crown Attorney Appointed in Bridgewater

Susan Bour has been appointed a senior Crown attorney in the Bridgewater office of the Public Prosecution Service.

The appointment was announced today, Dec. 9, by Martin Herschorn, director of Public Prosecutions.

"I am pleased to have Ms. Bour join our team," said Mr. Herschorn. "Her extensive prosecutorial experience will be an asset to the Public Prosecution Service."

Originally from the United States, Ms. Bour graduated from Mount Allison University in 1986 with a bachelor of arts with honours in political science and graduated from University of New Brunswick law school in 1989.

She articled with Watson, Coulson and Strachan, an Ottawa law firm, and was later appointed a legal analyst for the Royal Commission in New Reproductive Technologies and later for the National Pharmaceutical Strategy at Health and Welfare Canada.

In 1993 Ms. Bour was appointed a Crown counsel conducting criminal prosecutions for the federal Department of Justice in Yellowknife, N.W.T. Since 1995 she has been with the Atlantic regional office of the Public Prosecution Service of Canada conducting federal statute prosecutions in Nova Scotia, primarily under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
