Premier Announces Byelection Date

Premier Darrell Dexter, today, Sept. 23, announced that a byelection will be held in the riding of Cumberland South, on Tuesday, Oct 26.

"I wanted to make sure that the residents of Cumberland South have representation in the legislature during the upcoming fall session," said Premier Dexter. "I look forward to welcoming a new member to the House of Assembly in October."

The seat became vacant with the recent retirement of long-time MLA Murray Scott.
