Minister Extends Condolences to Family, Friends of Rev. Dr. Donald Fairfax

African Nova Scotian Affairs Minister Percy Paris extended his condolences to family and friends of Rev. Dr. Donald Fairfax, who passed away on Friday, Aug. 6, in Dartmouth.

"Rev. Dr. Fairfax was not only a pillar of faith in the African Nova Scotian community; he was a tireless advocate for education, social justice and human rights," Mr. Paris said. "His contributions have benefitted Nova Scotians across the province, and he will be sorely missed."

Rev. Dr. Fairfax was a former moderator of the African United Baptist Association and pastored at Victoria Road United Baptist Church for more than 50 years.

He volunteered or served on boards for several organizations including the Nova Scotia Home for Coloured Children, Nova Scotia Mental Health Association, and the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission. He was named a Member of the Order of Canada in 1990.
