New Crown Attorney in New Glasgow
Patrick Young has been appointed a Crown attorney in the New Glasgow office of the Public Prosecution Service.
The appointment was announced today, July 12, by Martin Herschorn, director of Public Prosecutions. "Mr. Young's prosecutorial experience will be a valuable addition to our team of Crown attorneys," said Mr. Herschorn.
A native of Cornwall, Prince Edward Island, Mr. Young graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts and from Carleton University in 2002 with a Master of Arts. He went on to law school at the University of New Brunswick, graduating in 2005.
Mr. Young articled with Cox Hanson O'Reilly Matheson in Charlottetown and later joined the Prince Edward Island Department of Justice and Attorney General as a Crown attorney. In 2007 Mr. Young was appointed a Crown prosecutor with the Alberta Department of Justice and Attorney General and was based in Peace River.
A dean's list student, Mr. Young held a number of volunteer positions during his four years at the University of Prince Edward Island including Department of Political Studies society vice-president, and elected office with the university Senate. At the University of New Brunswick law school, he was a peer mentor, on the staff of the Law Journal, chair of the Law Week Organization Committee and chair of the 2005 graduating committee.
