Film Nova Scotia Welcomes New Board Members

A lawyer and a university professor have been named as the two newest members to the board of directors of Film Nova Scotia.

Jeffrey Larsen is a lawyer with McInnes Cooper who brings considerable business and legal experience to the board. Mr Larson practices in the areas of energy and natural resources and corporate finance.

Susan Dodd is a Senior Fellow in the Foundation Year Programme at the University of King's College and an active volunteer in the community. Dr. Dodd brings a strong knowledge of education and administration as well as creative and cultural experience to the board.

"The experience and knowledge that Mr. Larsen and Ms. Dodd bring will be invaluable to board operations," said Bonnie Kirby, board chair. "We are pleased that the film board continues to attract talented and dedicated individuals."

In addition to the two new members, current board member Cheryl Hodder was reappointed to the board for a second term. She was also named vice chair. Ms. Hodder's background in corporate management, combined with the knowledge of the industry gathered in her first term, will provide insight and continuity for the board. All the appointments are for three-year terms.

"We have an exciting and vibrant industry and we are confident that the members of our board will enjoy their experiences with Nova Scotia's film community."

Film Nova Scotia is a provincial Crown agency reporting to the minister of Economic and Rural Development. The corporation provides a wide range of programs and services to build the capacity and competitiveness of the province's film, television and new media industry. The industry is the fourth largest in Canada, it employs 3,000 people and regularly exceeds $100 million in economic activity annually.
