New Chair and Four Members Appointed

George Archibald has been appointed chair of the Waterfront Development Corporation board of directors and four new members have been named to the board, the province announced today, March 2.

"We are fortunate to acquire new members with the range of knowledge and experience to complement the existing board," said Colin MacLean, president and CEO of Waterfront Development Corporation Limited. "Under Mr. Archibald's leadership, WDCL is well positioned to move forward with development projects and to create quality experiences on our waterfronts."

Mr. Archibald is a former Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Transportation and chair of the Management Board.

New board members are:

  • Rodney F. Burgar, a corporate lawyer and CEO of Accelerator Inc.;
  • Joyce Carter, vice president, finance and chief strategy officer for Halifax International Airport Authority and chair of the Halifax Gateway Council
  • John Holm, a former MLA and public affairs consultant
  • Rustum Southwell, chief executive officer of the Black Business Initiative

Waterfront Development Corporation Ltd. is a provincial Crown corporation that manages provincially owned land along the waterfronts from Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford and Lunenburg. It created the Park After Dark pilot program that provides an affordable, safe alternative for the overnight winter parking ban.
