Minister Extends Condolences to Friends, Family of Willena Jones

African Nova Scotian Affairs Minister Percy Paris extended his condolences to friends and family of Willena Jones, who passed away the morning of Monday, Feb. 22, in Truro.

"Willena Jones was a community leader and matriarch," said Mr. Paris. "She was an educator, a mother, a respected elder and the first woman of African descent to teach school in Truro."

Mrs. Jones was also one of the six Leading Ladies honoured this year for African Heritage Month.

"She made outstanding contributions to the youth of our community and will be greatly missed," said Mr. Paris.
