Acting Premier Offers Condolences on Death of Former MLA
Acting Premier Frank Corbett today, Feb. 17, offered his condolences to the family and friends of former MLA Joe Casey, who passed away Feb. 16.
"I was deeply saddened to hear that Joe Casey passed away this week," said Mr. Corbett. "I never had the privilege of working with Joe in the Nova Scotia Legislature, but I know that he was extremely dedicated to his constituents, and all Nova Scotians.
"He worked hard to represent the needs of the people of Digby and he will be greatly missed."
Mr. Casey was first elected in the riding of Digby in 1970. He represented the area until 1984, when he took a break for health reasons. He was re-elected in 1988 and served until 1997. During that time he also held the role of deputy Speaker of the House.
