Invitation to IncrEDIBLE Community Suppers

Community suppers in schools, church basements and fire halls are a tradition in Nova Scotia that bring neighbours together, raise funds for projects while sharing delicious, home-cooked food.

As part of the month's activities, Select Nova Scotia will sponsor up to 24 IncrEDIBLE Community Suppers throughout the province.

"It may be cold and snowy outside, but Nova Scotia farmers, fishers and food artisans continue to provide a bounty of delicious food options from the fields, sea and kitchens all year long," said John MacDonell, Agriculture Minister. "Select Nova Scotia is sponsoring these winter harvest celebrations throughout the month to bring people together and showcase local food."

IncrEDIBLE Community Suppers are fun, family events. They are accessible and affordable, featuring items produced in Nova Scotia that use simple, seasonal recipes. The events are not limited to supper and could be a breakfast, brunch or lunch indoors or outdoors, during February or early March.

The suppers are a way to encourage partnerships and involve a wide range of community organizations such as farmers, food markets, schools, churches and service clubs.

To date, 12 suppers have been sponsored and 12 more are available. People interested in applying to host an IncrEDIBLE Community Supper can e-mail [email protected] or call 902-722-1305.
