Commission Launches Employment Equity Partnership Survey

The Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission is asking businesses and organizations to help paint a clear picture of employment equity in the province.

The commission is looking for Nova Scotia employers to take part in the Employment Equity Partnership survey launched today, Jan. 22. The survey will gather information from the public, private and non-profit sectors to examine employment equity trends and help build the Employment Equity Partnership program.

Krista Daley, director and CEO of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission, said the survey is an opportunity for organizations to become involved in discussion on employment equity.

"We are looking for participation from a variety of organizations so that we have an accurate idea of how we are doing as a province," said Krista Daley, director and CEO of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission."With the results of this survey, we hope to improve our understanding of employment equity issues and better reflect the needs of employers in the Employment Equity Partnership program."

The Employment Equity Partnership, announced last spring, has the commission partnering with a number of agencies and organizations to promote equity, inclusion and diversity in the workforce.

The initiative works to create policy to replace affirmative-action agreements and address barriers faced by some members of the workforce. It also aims to create more discussion with employers, researchers and communities across the province about employment equity issues.

The survey takes five to 10 minutes to complete and is anonymous and confidential. Individual responses will not be released, shared or published.

The survey can be found online at www.gov.ns.ca/humanrights . The deadline for responses is Friday, Feb. 19.
