Province Co-hosts National Labour Market Best-practice Workshop
Nova Scotia is co-hosting a national workshop to bring together federal, provincial, and territorial representatives to discuss best practices in today's labour market.
The Forum of Labour Market Ministers national best-practice workshop began today, Oct. 14, in Halifax, and runs until Oct. 16.
"We're committed to providing Nova Scotians with every possible opportunity to stay, live and work here in the province," says Marilyn More, Minister of Labour and Workforce Development. "This workshop allows us to tap into the pool of collective knowledge from all jurisdictions across the country to determine the best course of action for Nova Scotia."
The workshop includes discussions on many topics, including:
- Responding to the challenges of the economic downturn;
- Essential skills in the workplace;
- Engaging older and younger workforces;
- Aboriginal-focused measures;
- Planning and preparing for economic recovery.
The Department of Labour and Workforce Development is co-hosting the event with the Forum of Labour Market Ministers and Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.
Over 70 delegates from provincial, territorial, and federal labour departments are attending.
