Province Proclaims Securities Act Amendments
The province proclaimed amendments to the Securities Act to support the final phase of the securities regulation passport system, which begins today, Sept. 28.
"These amendments will ensure the passport system is able to function effectively nationally," said Finance Minister Graham Steele.
The passport system provides streamlined access to Canada's capital markets.
"The last phase of the passport allows securities registrants in Canada to deal with only one regulator and one set of requirements," said Mr. Steele.
The regulation is a key part of the commitment to harmonize and simplify securities law and rules made under a provincial/territorial memorandum of understanding.
The Nova Scotia Securities Commission is introducing new rules to improve the registration program under the passport system starting today.
More information on the amendments and the passport system is available on the Nova Scotia Securities Commission website at www.gov.ns.ca/nssc .
