Energy (June 2002 - July 2018)

Acting Energy Minister Frank Corbett announced today, Aug. 5, that Alison Scott, deputy minister of the Department of Energy, has accepted a secondment with the Government of Canada.

Ms. Scott will serve as special advisor to the Deputy Minister of Environment for provincial negotiations on climate change.

"I want to wish Alison much success in her new role," said Mr. Corbett. "Alison can be credited with many advancements on the energy file in this province and I know she will be an asset to Environment Canada."

The secondment is part of an interchange with the government of Canada. Ms. Scott will remain as an employee of the province of Nova Scotia and will receive her regular salary and employer-paid benefits. Environment Canada will refund the province the cost of Ms. Scott's salary and benefits.

Ms. Scott has many years experience with federal-provincial negotiations, including work on the Charlottetown Accord, Health-care Accord, and equalization arrangements between the provinces and the federal government.

Ms. Scott was appointed deputy minister of Energy in 2004. She also served as deputy minister of Intergovernmental Affairs.

Government will conduct a search for a new deputy minister. Bruce Cameron, director of strategy, policy, planning, and services, will be acting deputy minister until a replacement is found.

Ms. Scott begins her position with the federal government on Monday, Aug 10.
