Acting Deputy Minister Announced for Department of Health
Premier Darrell Dexter announced today, June 29, the appointment of Kevin McNamara, chief executive officer of the South Shore District Health Authority, as acting deputy minister of the Department of Health.
"I want to offer my congratulations and best wishes to Mr. McNamara on his new assignment," said Premier Dexter. "Mr. McNamara understands the unique challenges of Nova Scotia's health-care system and will be able to help government prepare to address those challenges."
Mr. McNamara previously served as deputy minister for the Department of Environment and Labour. He also served as vice-president of human resources for the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre.
He is an active community volunteer and the chair of the Nova Scotia Advisory Committee on Organ and Tissue Donation. He also sits on a number of health-related committees.
The appointment will take effect Friday, July 3, and will last about three months.
