Speaker, Deputy Speakers Named
Members of the Nova Scotia Legislative Assembly elected Charlie Parker as Speaker of the House of Assembly today, June 25.
The members also elected three deputy speakers. Gordon Gosse was elected to the legislature in 2003 and re-elected in 2006 and 2009. He resides in Whitney Pier with his wife and son, and has a grown son living in Halifax.
Wayne Gaudet continues in his role as deputy speaker. He was elected to the legislature in 1993 and has held his seat in following elections. He was most recently re-elected in 2009.
Alfie MacLeod was first elected in 1995 and served until 1998. He was re-elected in 2006 and 2009. Mr. MacLeod resides in Gabarus Lake, Cape Breton Regional Municipality.
Both Mr. Gaudet and Mr. MacLeod have served as Speaker of the House.
