Employers Warned of Inaccurate Sales Pitch of First Aid Kits

The province is warning employers about a high-pressure telephone sales pitch making inaccurate claims about the need to purchase a particular brand of first-aid kit.

The Occupational Health and Safety division of the Department of Labour and Workforce Development is receiving complaints from numerous employers about the calls.

"Provincial regulations require employers to provide one of three first-aid kit types, and the size and price of the kits depend on how many employees are in the workplace," said Jim LeBlanc, director of Occupational Health and Safety. "Employers have a variety of options on where to obtain those kits. Most range from $20 to $100, depending on the size."

For more information about which kits are right for workplaces, employers can consult the Occupational Health and Safety first-aid regulations or call 1-800-952-2687.
