Nova Scotia high school students have a chance to win fantastic prizes, including free tuition, and learn about career opportunities in the province, with a new online game called Mission Tuition.

The interactive game is part of a campaign designed to encourage Nova Scotia youth to investigate careers in the province. The game links youth directly to www.brightcareerfutures.com so they can connect with the people, programs and resources needed to develop skills and build rewarding careers in Nova Scotia.

Nova Scotia Come to life launched the campaign today, May 6, in partnership with the Department of Labour and Workforce Development and Nova Scotia Business Inc.

"Our young people need to know they can have a rewarding career in dynamic sectors, right here in Nova Scotia," said Stuart Gourley, senior executive director, skills and learning branch of the Department of Labour and Workforce Development. "Brightcareerfutures.com provides critical information that will help students shape their future in our province and Mission Tuition ensures students know about the site."

Mission Tuition, which can only be accessed on www.brightcareerfutures.com, highlights six companies around the province. The object of the game is to collect game pieces from each company by completing a series of tasks. Grade 12 students that complete the tasks will qualify for one of four prizes of tuition for a year at a Nova Scotia university or college, up to $5,000. Students from Grades 10 to 12 will have a chance to win one of six secondary prizes -- a MacBook laptop and five Ipod Nano music players.

A group of students tested the game before the launch.

"I learned that there are a lot of big companies here and that there are lots of job opportunities for me in the future," said Katelyn Josey, a Grade 12 student at Dartmouth High. "I don't have to go anywhere. It's all right here."

MedMira, a charter member of Nova Scotia Come to life, is among the companies featured in the online game.

"We have an enviable quality of life, a world-class education system and a number of incredibly successful businesses in our province," said Andrea Young, global marketing communications manager with MedMira. "We have achieved international success here in Nova Scotia and it's important our young people know that staying, learning and thriving here is an option."

The draw date for Mission Tuition is June 3. To play the game, go to www.brightcareerfutures.com .

Mission Tuition is just one of many initiatives, programs and campaigns carried out by Nova Scotia Come to life. The goal of Nova Scotia Come to life is to ensure Nova Scotians and others see the province's positive and powerful attributes and advantages.
