Building for Growth Regional Information Sessions Announced

People who are looking for a job or to enhance their careers and employers who want to develop and retain workers will get help reaching those goals through Building for Growth regional information sessions being held throughout the province.

The sessions will cover career development and training as well as talent development for employers. The first session will be held Wednesday, April 29, from noon to 7 p.m. at the NSCC Lunenburg Campus in Bridgewater.

"These sessions provide a great learning and networking opportunity for Nova Scotians," said Mark Parent, Minister of Labour and Workforce Development. "By investing in the people of Nova Scotia, we are building towards a better, more prosperous future."

The Bridgewater session will feature workshops in adult education (1 p.m.); career options; supplier development (2 p.m.); apprenticeship (3 p.m.); job search; career transition (4 p.m.); resume building; and workplace education (6 p.m.).

The Building for Growth regional information sessions will feature booths from industry partners such as NSCC, regional development authorities, chambers of commerce, the departments of Labour and Workforce Development, and Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal, Service Canada, Lunenburg County Adult Learning, Black Business Initiative, Dalhousie University College of Continuing Education, Nova Scotia Construction Sector Council, and other career resource centers and employers.

Sessions are expected to attract 250 to 500 people. Following is a schedule of the sessions:

  • Wednesday, May 6, Truro, NSCC Truro Campus
  • Wednesday, May 13, Sydney, NSCC Marconi Campus
  • Wednesday, May 27, Kentville, NSCC Kingstec Campus
  • Wednesday, June 3, Dartmouth, NSCC Waterfront Campus
