Peter Kohler Windows and Entrance Systems Growing, Investing in Debert
For Debert-based Peter Kohler Windows and Entrance Systems, expanding means more than adding new jobs, it means adding to the ways the company invests in its people and its future.
"Our success is based on our people, giving them access to further training and education to help them be the best at what they do," said Kevin Pelley, president of Peter Kohler Windows. "This fosters a committed workforce where people are engaged and take more pride in their work.
"We look forward to increasing our loyal and capable workforce as we continue to meet the growing demands of our customers in Atlantic Canada and around the world."
The province, through Nova Scotia Business Inc., is supporting the company's growth plans with a five-year payroll rebate, to a maximum of $930,000. The investment will give the company flexibility to create up to 150 new jobs over the term of the agreement, adding positions as necessary. The rebate is paid annually, based on the number of positions created by the company.
Peter Kohler Windows will use the payroll rebate to develop better programs for staff, help integrate new workers, and focus on the ongoing success of all its employees.
"It is vital that we continue to make smart investments in strong companies -- especially during these economic times," said Economic and Rural Development Minister Murray Scott. "Peter Kohler Windows' expansion in Debert is proof that companies are growing right here in Nova Scotia."
Together, management and staff have made Peter Kohler Windows a Canadian leader in energy-efficient design and manufacturing. The company's product line is also expanding, including development of new commercial windows.
The company also has plans to move into new Canadian export markets in Quebec, Ontario and Alberta.
"Through a commitment to quality and innovation, Peter Kohler Windows has built one of Nova Scotia's most recognized brands," said Stephen Lund, president and CEO of NSBI. "Now more than ever, we need to partner with companies like Kohler with a clear focus on future opportunities."
