Premier Pays Tribute to Former Cabinet Minister Guy Brown
Premier Rodney MacDonald expressed sadness today, April 6, about the death of former cabinet minister Guy Brown. Mr. Brown passed away Sunday at the age of 72.
"Mr. Brown was a dedicated and hard-working representative of the people of Cumberland County for almost a quarter of a century," Premier MacDonald said. "During that time, he held many cabinet posts, but there was never any doubt that his constituents were his first priority."
Mr. Brown was first elected to the Nova Scotia Legislature in 1974. Some of the posts he held during his career include Minister of Consumer Affairs, Minister of Labour, Minister of Agriculture and Marketing and Minister responsible for the Nova Scotia Economic Renewal Agency.
Mr. Brown had a long history of public service, which began with his service in the Canadian Forces in 1956, and extended to his election as Mayor of the Town of Springhill in 2004.
"On behalf of all Nova Scotians, I extend my sincere condolences to Mr. Brown's wife, family and friends," the premier said.
The flags at Province House are flying at half-mast in honour of Mr. Brown.
