Carver New Crown Attorney in Dartmouth

Paul Carver has been appointed a Crown attorney in the Dartmouth office of the Public Prosecution Service. The appointment was announced today, March 3, by Martin Herschorn, director of Public Prosecutions.

"Mr. Carver has solid prosecutorial experience," said Mr. Herschorn. "His knowledge and experience as a Crown attorney is a valuable asset."

Mr. Carver is a Halifax native and a 1992 graduate of Dalhousie law school. He articled with the Halifax law firm of Scaravelli & Garson.

Mr. Carver joined the Public Prosecution Service as a Crown attorney in 1995, leaving briefly to practice law in the private sector. As a partner in the law firm of Carver and Mason, his practice focused on litigation and criminal law.

Mr. Carver rejoined the Public Prosecution Service two years later. In 2007, he moved to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada, where he was responsible for the prosecution of offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and various federal statutes.

Mr. Carver has made presentations on a variety of legal topics but, most notably, on dangerous offender applications. He has published works on the topic.
