Premier's Office Announces New Deputy Chief of Staff

Halifax business executive Kevin Cameron has joined Premier Rodney MacDonald's office as deputy chief of staff.

Mr. Cameron spent the past 18 months in the Department of Economic and Rural Development as a senior policy advisor. Before joining government, he was a business consultant. Mr. Cameron also served lengthy terms as president of the Halifax Mooseheads hockey team, and director of business development with the Canadian Olympic Association.

"I'm very pleased to have Kevin join my office," said Premier MacDonald. "His business experience will be a huge benefit in our ongoing efforts to position Nova Scotia as a leading market for business investment."

Mr. Cameron said he hopes his recent focus on economic development opportunities in the province will serve him well in his new role.

"Obviously the government is focused on infrastructure projects and job creation," said Mr. Cameron. "I hope my experience as a business consultant, and more recently with economic development will help in those efforts.

"I believe I have something to offer, and I'm pleased to be given this opportunity."

Mr. Cameron's appointment was effective Jan. 26.
