Holocaust Remembrance Day

Premier Rodney MacDonald is encouraging Nova Scotians to support Holocaust Remembrance Day, Tuesday, Jan. 27.

It has been over 60 years since the Holocaust. The tragedy saw the lives of six million innocent Jewish men, women and children killed at the hands of the Nazis.

"The Holocaust was a brutal genocide that must never be allowed to fade from memory," said Premier MacDonald.

"The murder of millions of people for simply being Jewish was an horrific crime against humanity. It was an incomprehensible event and for that very reason, should never be forgotten."

Canada was instrumental in urging fellow United Nations countries to vote in favour of a resolution to officially mark a day of Holocaust remembrance.
