Nova Scotia Come to life Welcomes 300th Charter Member

North America's first chamber of commerce has become a charter member of Nova Scotia "Come to life". The addition of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce means the initiative now has the backing of more than 300 charter members.

The Halifax Chamber of Commerce, along with 52 other businesses and associations signed the charter document today, Dec. 18, at a ceremony in Halifax.

Charter members pledge to support the initiative and are ambassadors for Nova Scotia, telling the world about the advantages of living, working, learning and investing in the province.

Premier Rodney MacDonald welcomed the new members.

"Nova Scotia is such a great place to start or expand a business, to raise a family and to live a balanced life," said Premier MacDonald. "Our charter members prove that you can have it all in this province, and they're helping to spread the word."

The Halifax Chamber of Commerce helped organize the ceremony and acted as co-hosts. The chamber also recruited new charter members from their membership.

"We believe in the power of working together," said Kim West, Chair of the board of directors for the Halifax Chamber of Commerce. "Nova Scotia "Come to life" offers a unified voice for the people, companies and associations in Nova Scotia and we are thrilled to be lending our voice to a growing choir.”

In the last year, Nova Scotia "Come to life" has welcomed more than 200 new charter members. Together, the private sector and government are working under Nova Scotia "Come to life" to change the way people think about Nova Scotia.
