New Crown Attorney in Sydney
Christa MacKinnon has been appointed a Crown Attorney in the Sydney office of the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service.
The appointment was announced today, Oct. 24, by Martin Herschorn, director of public prosecutions.
"We're very pleased to have Ms. MacKinnon on board," said Mr. Herschorn. "Her experience and prosecutorial abilities are a valuable asset to the Public Prosecution Service."
A native of Marion Bridge, Cape Breton Regional Municipality, Ms. MacKinnon completed her undergraduate degree at Mount Allison University in Sackville, N.B. She graduated from the University of New Brunswick Law School in 1998. After articling with Patterson Palmer Hunt Murphy in Halifax, she was admitted to the bar in 1999.
Ms. MacKinnon practiced with the federal Department of Justice in Halifax from October 1999 until January 2008 when she accepted a secondment to serve as a Crown attorney in the Sydney office of the Public Prosecution Service. The appointment makes her position permanent.
