Tourism, Culture and Heritage (Dec. 2003 - Jan. 2011)

The North American travel industry is seeing first-hand what Nova Scotia and other Atlantic provinces have to offer as a travel destination at this week's Atlantic Canada Showcase.

The travel trade show, the region's premiere tourism marketplace, is in Moncton Oct. 6-9. More than 145 Atlantic tourism businesses are meeting companies from across North America and selling the region's tourism products while building relationships with key tour operators.

"We are pleased to partner with the Atlantic Canada Tourism Partnership and the other Atlantic provinces to make the Atlantic Canada Showcase a successful marketplace for both buyers and sellers," said Bill Dooks, Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Heritage. "The relationships that are built during this event will benefit our province's tourism industry."

During this four-day event, members of the Atlantic Canada tourism industry market products to tour operators and travel professionals looking for new and interesting tourism experiences to offer clients.

In addition to the networking opportunities at the showcase, delegates are invited to participate in familiarization tours in each of the four Atlantic provinces. The tours take place before and after the showcase.

"Events like the Atlantic Canada Showcase are helpful in maintaining and increasing our international profile," said Danny Morton, chair of the Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia. "A marketplace such as the showcase connects travel buyers directly with the operators and owners of the unique travel products available in Nova Scotia and the Atlantic Canada region."

The showcase is an initiative of the Atlantic Canada Tourism Partnership, a nine-member, Atlantic partnership that comprises ACOA, the four Atlantic Canada tourism industry associations and the four provincial departments responsible for tourism.
