2007 Minister's Report to Parents Available

The summary report of the 2007 provincial student examination and assessment results is now available.

The seventh annual Minister's Report to Parents contains previously released assessment and Nova Scotia examination results for Grade 12 mathematics, English and physics, as well as newly published school-by-school results in the Early Elementary Mathematical Literacy Assessment, the Early Language Literacy Assessment, the Elementary Literacy Assessment and the Junior High Literacy Assessment.

"These assessments give parents, and the education system as a whole, important information on how well our students are learning, where students require additional support and intervention, and how to best direct our investments to ensure the success of all students," said Education Minister Karen Casey.

The 2007 report also contains valuable national and international assessment results in language arts, mathematics and science.

Nova Scotia students performed well in a number of subject areas, and in a variety of provincial and international assessments in 2007. The assessments also showed that there continues to be areas where improvement is needed, notably in mathematics.

The report can be viewed online at www.ednet.ns.ca . Copies of the report will available at schools this week.
