Premier Congratulates Nova Scotia's Idol, Mitch MacDonald
Premier Rodney MacDonald today, Sept. 11, congratulated Mitch MacDonald on his excellent showing on Canadian Idol.
"Even though Mitch placed second in last night's contest, the cheers coming from Port Hood could probably be heard in Toronto for their hometown hero," Premier MacDonald said of the television series finale.
"While Mitch finished second, he remains first in the hearts of Nova Scotians," the premier said. "Nova Scotia's musical talent has been shining in venues across the globe for sometime now. Mitch is another tremendous example of the exceptional abilities coming from our province.
"Like so many others before him, the key to his success throughout the contest was that he remained true to his musical roots."
The premier thanked the people of the province and the hundreds of thousands of Canadians for their support of the tremendous young Nova Scotian whose future appears limitless.
The premier also congratulated winner Theo Tams, of Lethbridge, Alta., for his excellent showing throughout the annual national contest.
