Film Production Fund Scholarship Program Will Help Develop Talent

A new scholarship puts the spotlight on film students at NSCAD University.

Film Nova Scotia is offering fourth-year students an opportunity to receive assistance through the Film Nova Scotia Bachelor of Fine Arts Film Production Fund.

The scholarship offers up to six $2,500 production grants, one per film, to help students with undergraduate thesis films.

"Nova Scotia is a hotbed for developing new talent," said Ann MacKenzie, president and chief executive officer of Film Nova Scotia.

"Investing in the training and development of these filmmakers helps ensure the growth of our local industry. We are thrilled to partner with NSCAD on this initiative."

Sam Fisher, a senior film faculty professor at NSCAD, said the scholarship will make a strong program more competitive.

"This investment from Film Nova Scotia will be a significant turning point in film education in the province," said Mr. Fisher.

"In my opinion, this grant is the last piece of the puzzle to make NSCAD the best undergrad film program in Canada."
