Flags Lowered at Province House for Capt. Snyder

Flags at the legislature are lowered to half mast out of respect for Capt. Jonathan Sutherland Snyder, who died in an accident, Saturday, June 7, while conducting a security patrol in Zhari District, Afghanistan.

Capt. Snyder, a member of the First Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, based at Canadian Forces Base Edmonton, is the son of Dorothy Anne Snyder of Halifax.

"A Nova Scotia mother has lost a son who was working with Afghan soldiers to bring peace to the Afghanistan people," said Premier Rodney MacDonald. "The government and people of Nova Scotia join together to express our condolences to his family and his fellow soldiers."

"I want to express our profound condolences to the family, friends and regimental colleagues of Capt. Snyder," said Richard Hurlburt, Minister Responsible for Military Relations. "We can only hope that they can take comfort in knowing that all Nova Scotia shares their sorrow."
