Recreational Fishing Advisory Council Meetings Announced
Nova Scotia anglers are invited to discuss angling regulations and provide input on sportfishing issues at meetings to be held throughout the province in November and December.
Ron Chisholm, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, announced the Recreational Fishing Advisory Council meetings today, Nov. 8.
The meetings are open to the public and give representatives from the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture an opportunity to share information on research, fish stocking programs, education and extension programs, and discuss regulatory issues.
"We continue to monitor the health of our sport fishery," said Mr. Chisholm. "Through our assessment of the fishery, combined with valuable input from anglers, we develop and change regulations that will conserve, enhance, protect and in some cases, provide increased sportfishing opportunities for Nova Scotia anglers."
There will be six Recreational Fishing Advisory Council meetings All meetings will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 21 Area 4, Southern Nova Scotia (includes Digby, Yarmouth, Shelburne, and Queens counties) Rodd Colony Motel, Willow Room, 6 Forest St.,Yarmouth
Thursday, Nov. 22 Area 5, Western Nova Scotia (includes Annapolis, Kings and Hants counties) Room 2102, Kingstec Campus, NSCC, 236 Belcher St., Kentville
Wednesday, Nov. 28 Area 2, Eastern Nova Scotia (includes Antigonish, Pictou, and Guysborough counties) Nova Scotia Museum of Industry Auditorium, 147 North Foord St., Stellarton
Tuesday, Dec. 04 Area 3, Central Nova Scotia (includes Halifax and Lunenburg counties) Mosher Room, Park Place Hotel and Conference Centre, Ramada Plaza Hotel, 240 Brownlow Ave., Dartmouth
Thursday, Dec. 6 Area 1, Cape Breton (includes Cape Breton, Inverness, Victoria, and Richmond counties) Mariner Ballroom, Delta Sydney Hotel, 300 Esplanade St., Sydney
Tuesday, Dec. 11 Area 6, Northern Nova Scotia (includes Cumberland and Colchester counties) MacDonald A, B Room, Best Western Glengarry St., Truro Note: This meeting is being held in conjunction with the Cobequid Salmon Association monthly meeting.
