Sherbrooke Village Showcases a Different Hue of Celtic Colour

Sherbrooke Village will be featuring another colourful aspect of Celtic culture on Sunday, Oct. 14, when Flora MacDonald, from Carinish, North Uist, of the Scottish Western Isles, will present a natural dye workshop.

Ms. MacDonald is well-known in Hebridrean arts circles as a spinner, weaver, painter and musician and has come to Nova Scotia to visit friends and take in Celtic Colours International Festival.

"We feel we have put together very fitting bookends for this year's Celtic Colours Festival," said Lynn Hayne, manager of development and promotions for Sherbroke Village. "Our Road to Celtic Colours Music Camp was a great lead up to the big event and our natural dye workshop will provide an opportunity to enjoy the road from Celtic Colours."

The hands on workshop will be open to the public and will offer participants the chance to dip dye wool in various lichen preparations using age old techniques. Cost for the workshop is $15 which includes an evening meal of homemade beans and brown bread, or $10 without the meal.

The workshop begins at 2 p.m. at the Cumminger House (Building 21) and pre-registration is suggested.
