Public Service Week Celebrates Great People Doing Great Things
Premier Rodney MacDonald paid tribute to Nova Scotia's public servants to mark the start of Provincial Public Service Week, Oct. 8-14.
"We have more than 10,000 civil servants, corrections and highway workers providing high quality services to Nova Scotia's families, businesses and communities every single day," said Premier MacDonald. "They make a significant, often unseen contribution to the very quality of life we enjoy in this province."
An awareness campaign has also been launched to showcase public servants at work. The campaign, Great People Doing Great Things includes posters profiling public servants and their work. They are located in government facilities where Nova Scotians are served, such as Access Nova Scotia centres, museums and libraries. Public servant profiles can be found on the provincial recognition website. During the week, KOOL 96.5 FM will extend information about public service work to a radio audience.
"Public Service Week is our chance to recognize the resourcefulness, innovation and dedication within our public service," said Jamie Muir, acting Minister of Human Resources and the Public Service Commission. "Whether our public service is plowing roads, supporting families, providing internet access in rural areas, assessing crown lands, or working with renewable energy, Nova Scotians can be proud of the work they do and their contribution to our province."
