Labour Day Celebrates Workers

Monday, Sept. 3, is Labour Day, the annual holiday on which Canadians honour the contribution of its working people.

"Nova Scotia's workforce of more than 440,000 deserves this day of recognition for their talent, creativity and, of course, their enormous contribution to our province's prosperity," said Environment and Labour Minister Mark Parent.

"Labour Day is a day to rest, enjoy friends and family, and to look back on the accomplishments of the past year. We can all take pride in a highly-educated and dedicated workforce that is second to none."

Mr. Parent said the holiday is also an occasion for government to renew its commitment to workplace health and safety, and to workplace standards that are fair to all.
