Beach Supervision Comes to Close
After another successful summer, the Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service will end supervision at 20 of the 22 supervised beaches Sunday, Aug. 26.
Lawrencetown Beach and Aylesford Lake Beach will remain supervised daily until Labour Day, Monday, Sept. 3. Lawrencetown Beach will then be supervised for the Sept. 8-9 and Sept. 15-16 weekends only.
"It's been another safe and successful year," said Paul D'Eon, lifeguard service director. "Our lifeguards have conducted numerous interventions, and we had a very low rate of major incidents."
Supervision ends this month as most of the 60 lifeguards are university students and will return to school in September.
The lifeguard service is a joint project of the Lifesaving Society and the Department of Health Promotion and Protection. For more information about the lifeguard service, visit www.nsls.ns.ca.
