Premier Offers Congratulations to Peter MacKay

Premier Rodney MacDonald today, Aug. 14, offered his congratulations to Peter MacKay as he takes on the new portfolio as Canada's Minister of Defence. Mr. MacKay will also continue as Minister of ACOA and regional minister for Nova Scotia and P.E.I.

"I am pleased for Mr. MacKay and offer him my sincere congratulations on behalf of the province of Nova Scotia," said Premier MacDonald. "The Defence portfolio has strong economic benefits for this province and I look forward to working with Mr. MacKay on Defence matters."

The premier was also pleased that Mr. MacKay will continue in his responsibilities as the Minister of ACOA and regional minister responsible for Nova Scotia.

"Mr. MacKay did a fine job as the Minister responsible for Foreign Affairs, and I am sure he will continue that good work as he takes on this new role," said the premier.
