Highland Village Museum to Host Horseshoeing Demonstration
Highland Village Museum/ An Clachan Gˆidhealach will host a horseshoeing demonstration Saturday, June 30.
The museum's 17-year-old Clydesdale, Big Dan, will have his hooves shod on site by farrier, Dell Corbett. Horseshoeing is important to protect horses' hooves from hard ground and wearing out. The unique event will take place from 11 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the blacksmith shop.
Highland Village Museum has a full summer of events planned. Visitors can experience the outdoor living history museum illustrate Gaelic life in Nova Scotia. Guests can explore period buildings, visit with costumed interpreters, see many of the Gael's day-to-day activities, and enjoy the breathtaking view.
The Highland Village Museum and gift shop are open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and is located in Iona, Victoria Co., overlooking the Bras d'Or Lakes. It is a part of the Nova Scotia Museum family.
