4-H Members Participate in Exchange Program
Six 4-H members from Nova Scotia will travel to Western Canada on July 5 to learn about agriculture in other parts of the country.
"This exchange program allows our 4-H members to experience Canadian culture, agricultural industries and provincial 4-H programs in other jurisdictions," said Jamie Muir, acting Minister of Agriculture. "These travel programs are invaluable to the overall development of our youth's life skills."
The Nova Scotia delegates were selected through an interview process that was based on contributions to the 4-H program and community involvement.
Melinda Butler from Antigonish and Amanda Lowe from Mabou, Inverness Co., will travel to Saskatchewan. Allie Crouse of Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., is going to Manitoba. Tyler Fraser from Tatamagouche, Colchester Co., will visit Alberta. Nicole Lennerton of Truro, Colchester Co., and Andrea Hayward from LaHave, Lunenburg Co., will travel to British Columbia.
"The contribution by the Royal Bank of Canada to this national 4-H program is significant," said Arthur Pick, acting manager, 4-H and Rural Organizations. "4-H members from Nova Scotia and across Canada have learned about their country and gained lasting contacts through this exchange program."
In August, 4-H representatives from participating provinces will visit Nova Scotia as part of the reciprocal travel program.
The Royal Bank of Canada has sponsored the Interprovincial Exchange Program for 45 years and will host the 4-H travel delegates from the Atlantic provinces at a banquet Wednesday, July 4.
