Tender Called for Paving Louisbourg Highway
The road between Sydney and the historic Town of Louisbourg will soon be stronger and smoother after the completion of a paving tender called by the Department of Transportation and Public Works.
The tender involves repaving on Trunk 22 (Louisbourg Highway)from the intersection of Highway 125 for 6.8 kilometres to the intersection of Landry Crescent. Also included is repaving of Waterview Drive from the intersection of Coxheath Road for 0.6 kilometres to its end and on Kimar Drive from the intersection of Waterview Drive for 0.2 kilometres.
"This tender call is the second in a five-year program to upgrade all of Trunk 22 between Sydney and Louisbourg," said Angus MacIsaac, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "The other three projects are scheduled to be completed by 2010."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro, and Sydney.
