Sherbrooke Heritage Awards
The 2007 edition of the Sir John Coape Sherbrooke Heritage Awards will be held on Saturday, June 23.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Sherbrooke Exhibit Centre, Building 22, Second Street, Sherbrooke.
Angus MacIsaac, acting Finance Minister and Minister of Transportation and Public Works, will present the awards.
The Sir John Coape Sherbrooke Heritage Awards are designed to recognize persons who have made significant contributions to the preservation and promotion of the heritage of historic Sherbrooke Village, Guysborough County, and Nova Scotia.
This year's recipients will be John Grant and the late Jennie Cruickshank. Mr. Grant participated in the development of plans that are still apparent in the village today, and acted as historical consultant to the Sherbrooke Village Restoration Commission.
From Sherbrooke Village's initial conception, Mrs. Cruickshank was a driving force in the establishment of this valuable piece part of Nova Scotia's culture and heritage. As restoration committee secretary, and as eventual chair of the Sherbrooke Village Commission, Mrs. Cruickshank tirelessly dedicated her time and effort towards ensuring that Sherbrooke Village became a reality.
Past recipients include Aleah Lomas, Robert Frame, the late Lester MacDonald, and Frank Jordan.
Tickets for the dinner are $22 each and all are welcome.
