Paving Scheduled for Aylesford Road
Drivers who use Aylesford Road to go over South Mountain in Kings County will soon be seeing new pavement on their route as a result of a road-paving contract awarded by the province.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works has awarded a $1,339,255 contract to Nova Paving Limited to repave Aylesford Road from the intersection of East Dalhousie Road north for six kilometres.
"This is the first step in a multi-year effort to upgrade all of Aylesford Road," said Angus MacIsaac, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This road has long needed an upgrade and I'm pleased we were able to get this work on this year's schedule."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro, and Sydney.
