Tenders Called for Pictou County Road-improvement Project
Thousands of drivers who use Highway 104 between New Glasgow and Antigonish will soon be making the trip on a smoother, stronger road after the completion of a road-improvement tender announced by the Department of Transportation and Public Works.
The tender is for repairs to the Broadway Overpass on Highway 104 and repaving of the highway from the overpass for 8.1 kilometres to Exit 29 at Barneys River Station.
"Twinning of this section is in our long-range plans, but it's also important that we keep the existing lanes in top shape," said Angus MacIsaac, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "Highway 104 is a vital lifeline for northern Nova Scotia."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
